The security that you should expect from your data recovery service – SSAE 16 Type II SOC 1 Certification
DataRecoup understands that it should be of significant importance to each and every client that they have as much information as necessary to have the peace of mind of knowing exactly what is being done to recover their data and what expectations they should have regarding the service process and results.
Achieving a SSAE 16 Type II SOC 1 certification is just part of our fulfillment of our ongoing promise to our customers that will do everything possible to assure them of the security and confidentiality of their data while their device is in our skilled, professional care.
There’s simply too much at stake for any client to hand over their personal or corporate property without knowing exactly what will be done, when, and where to recover their data. Countless dollars could be at stake when it comes to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of that information and any violation should be taken extremely seriously. Our service and process has been developed and refined so that you have the peace of mind throughout every stage from frequent updates and support from your dedicated account manager to an online client portal that will allow you to review all of the documents pertaining to your service.
The SOC 1 designation of our certification applies to the fact that we submitted ourselves (appropriately enough) as a data service business.
Our recovery facilities not only include state-of-the-art cleanrooms, but security as well. Every aspect of our handling your device and the data contained thereon is closely monitored and recorded. Each and every case has documentation created it for it that will show the chain of custody for use in your own records as well as a detailed, accurate report regarding the service planned for your data.
SSAE 16 Type II SOC 1 should be critically important when choosing a data recovery service provider
SSAE, or the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements, is the industry standard for which processes and their controls are assessed including a review of security systems and private financial information. The SSAE 16 certification has existed in one form or another since the 90s to ensure that standards were in place for the rapidly expanding IT industry to protect clients from security flaws that might compromise their property (data, devices, etc.) and any financial information regarding the service.
The older, now outdated, certification SAS 70 should not be sufficient for any client, since that analysis only checks a service provider’s controls and not their systems as well. This may seem insignificant at first, but is critical when you consider the fact that network, IT security measures, and device management protocol are integral to successfully keeping any data recovery service secure and confidential.
SSAE 16 Type II certification requires quite a bit of oversight and supervision not only from the third party providing the analysis, but from and with the direct involvement of our staff as well. If any aspect of the service fails to meet the standards required in order to be certified, then those process are refined and adjusted until they are compliant. This ensures that the certification will be easily renewable as all of the standards and practices of our organization have been tailored to meet the rigorous ongoing requirements of the SSAE.
